According to most, eggs can last anywhere from 3-5 weeks in the refrigerator.
I think that is false, because sometimes eggs don’t even get to the consumer for 3 weeks yet they are still being sold and most are not getting sick. And that’s with a compromised shell.
Farm Fresh eggs unwashed and unrefrigerated can last 2 weeks; 3 months or more if in the refrigerator. The eggs that I keep for my family I do not wash them, nor do I store them in the refrigerator. We leave them out in a basket or in a bowl. Actually, most of the world do not refrigerate their eggs or douse them in chemicals the way the US does but that is another post.
Back to the point, If you wash farm fresh eggs and store them in the refrigerator they can last 2 months but they will not taste as fresh as unwashed.
I hope this helps. Until next time,
I almost forgot, if you want to check the freshness of an egg, if it floats it is bad. And of course if it smells rotten. And let me tell you that saying “like a rotten egg is real.” We had hens that created their own best while free-ranging once and when we found those eggs… Oh Boy. Something we will never forget.
